Third Year Politics student presents her dissertation at the Politics Studies Association Undergraduate Conference
The PSA Undergraduate Conference is a great opportunity for Exeter Undergraduates to present their dissertation work or other papers and get feedback from other students and academics from different universities. It’s also a good way to enhance one’s networks and get a taste of the academic world. This year’s event took place in Nottingham, April 2019.
Jazzlyne, final year BA International Relations student, reflects on her experience presenting her undergraduate dissertation in the write up below.
"I had a fantastic time taking part in the PSA UG Conference this year. I presented my dissertation on the Non-Profits and Politics panel and talked about the role of NGOs in Education in developing countries. Everyone was so supportive and gave such insightful feedback for me to reflect on to improve my paper. I really enjoyed listening to the other panels – Justice & Equality, Gender & Feminism, Contemporary Global Politics, as well as the Postgraduate & Careers Panel the PSA organised for the attendants, which gave such great insight to the prospects following undergraduate studies.
I didn’t quite know what to expect coming into it, but I felt like I came out of it way more confident of the skills I have (despite the nerves that came with it!), and definitely grew so much from this one experience. I met so many passionate individuals during the event, and my lecturers in Exeter were also really supportive upon hearing the news, offering so much help and encouragement leading up to the conference.
I would definitely recommend taking up the challenge to anyone thinking of doing it. – Given the chance to, I’d definitely do it again myself!"
