Joe Foweraker delivers talks on Polity, Populism and Dysfunctional Public Policy

Professor Joe Foweraker, Honorary Professor at Exeter University, and Emeritus Fellow of St. Antony’s College, University of Oxford, recently gave a series of talks to faculty and postgraduate students in Austin, Texas.

The first talk, at the Lyndon Baines Johnson School of Public Policy, concerned expectations about democracy and was entitled 'Polity, Populism and Dysfunctional Public Policy'. The second talk was delivered to students from sociology and politics on the topic of 'The Illusion of a Democratic Republic'.

The events were co-sponsored by The C B Smith Sr. Chair in US-Mexico Relations; Power, History and Society (PHS); Latin American Studies (LAS); and the Office of Graduate Studies.
