Conflict in Cities and Contested State

The Conflict in Cities project comprised 3 grants from the UK’s Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) beginning in 2003.  The final phase was a 5 year Large Research Grant involving the Universities of Exeter, Cambridge and Queen’s, Belfast and was entitled: Conflict in Cities and the Contested State: Everyday Life and the Possibilities of Transformation in Belfast, Jerusalem and other divided cities. This page offers a few selected reports.  The current Leverhulme Trust project, Power Piety and People, evolved both conceptually and thematically out of this earlier work.  It hopes to both develop and explore the religious element of conflict in cities.
