This module will provide you with an understanding of US-China relations, one of the world’s most important bilateral relationships. How this relationship between the world’s sole surviving superpower and an emerging great power evolves will have significant implications for the future direction of international order. In this module you will examine the evolution of diplomatic, security and economic relations between the United States and China. Specifically, you will explore the construction of US-China relations evolving from ‘military allies’ to ‘ideological enemies’, and from ‘moral adversaries’ to ‘strategic competitors and partners’ in responding to international environment and domestic needs.
