Academics from a variety of disciplines and in different national contexts have documented declining levels of civic engagement and political participation in recent decades. Yet at the same time new and innovative forms of participation are emerging. This module examines the changing nature, and extent, of political and civic participation in contemporary society as well as motivations for, and factors affecting, prosocial behaviour. The module offers you a unique opportunity to apply your newly acquired theoretical and empirical knowledge to a specific area of civic activity. There are no prerequisites for this module and it is likely to be of interest to students taking inter-disciplinary pathways.
