In this course, you will begin to prepare for your dissertation. In this module, you will develop skills necessary to undertake a large project that requires a detailed knowledge of one particular area-of-focus within politics. You will develop the important skill of translating an interesting topic into a specific research question. With question in hand, you will learn to identify and review relevant scholarly literature. You will focus on how to apply relevant research methodologies to your question. You will also be given training in important but indirect skills for completing a dissertation such as how to structure time and deal with inevitable setbacks when part of you original plan doesn’t work.
