In this module you will study the political history of the USSR until its dissolution in 1991, and analyse the subsequent divergent political developments of its 15 independent successor states. The module provides a detailed study of political developments in Russia since 1991, and also covers developments in other post-Soviet states. Alongside examination of internal political developments, it will assess the significance of these states and this region in contemporary international relations. There are no pre-requisite modules required to take this module.
